Mr. Hatim Altag, Vice President of the Union of Private African Televisions (UTPA), expressed his strong appreciation for the positive outcomes of the recent visit conducted by the Union’s President to the Arab Republic of Egypt, which included a series of high-level meetings with senior leaders of both public and private media institutions. He affirmed that these engagements mark a significant step toward strengthening African media and enhancing its regional and global presence.
Altag noted that the discussions held in Cairo explored concrete avenues for expanding cooperation, benefiting from Egypt’s extensive experience in media training, digital transformation, television broadcasting, and content development. Such collaboration, he added, will play a vital role in building the capacities of African private broadcasters and empowering them to better serve the continent’s priorities.
He emphasized that the advancement of African media is not merely a professional objective but a strategic pillar for supporting development, stability, and progress across the continent. A strong and independent media sector, he said, is essential for amplifying African voices and contributing to sustainable growth
Altag further explained that the visit forms part of a comprehensive strategic program developed by the newly elected Executive Secretariat of UTPA. This program focuses on fostering communication and consultation with all African countries while opening wider channels of cooperation with global partners, with the aim of coordinating efforts and exchanging experiences to benefit Africa and all nations.
He concluded by reaffirming UTPA’s commitment to its renewed vision of building a more influential, dynamic, and interconnected African media landscape—one capable of contributing effectively to shaping the future of the continent and supporting its aspirations.
